Caserta Palace and Parks

Caserta Palace and Parks

A full day to explore the magnificent 18th century Royal Palace (Reggia) which is a listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and often referred to as the Versailles of Naples. Spend the morning exploring the grand rooms, some of which have been used for several famous movies such as Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Angels and Demons and Mission Impossible III. In the afternoon you can enjoy the park with its waterfalls, lakes and the very famous English garden. Perfect settings for an Italian style picnic which you could prepare the night before from the Patisserie ‘Bar Rita’ which is just two minutes from Sorrento’s main square.

Positano view

Between sky and sea

A drive along the infamous Amalfi coast road takes you through breathtaking scenery. Take the steps down through the narrow lanes of dreamy Positano with chic boutiques and art galleries. Enjoy an ice cream in a beach cafe in Amalfi after visiting the Cathedral. Take lunch in a traditional restaurant in Ravello with incredible views of the surrounding hills and coastline before exploring Villa Rufolo or Cimbrone. Variations on this tour include an afternoon start with a visit to Amalfi before continuing to Ravello for dinner, or cocktails, and an evening classical concert.

The heart of Naples

A wonderful introduction to the fabric and daily life of this exciting and vibrant city. Start with a visit to the Archaeological Museum before meeting your guide for a walk through the streets of Napoli to experience ‘daily life’ and a chance to see the incredible architecture and sculptures. For example, the Veiled Christ by Giuseppe Sanmartino in Sansevero Chapel which is one of the most famous and impressive works of art in the world. After an authentic Neapolitan pizza you have free time to shop or visit other landmarks such as the San Carlo Opera House which offers tours. Before meeting you driver finish the day with a coffee at the famous Gran Caffè Gambrinus. The itinerary can be as flexible as you wish and include other attractions such as the Capodimonte Museum which is southern Italy’s largest and richest art gallery.

Experience the breath taking scenery of the Amalfi coast before enjoying an outdoor evening concert in Ravello. Combine an afternoon leisurely drive along the Amalfi coast with visits to Positano and Amalfi before attending an evening concert in Ravello’s unique setting. Cocktails or a pre concert dinner can be arranged. Return along the coastal road for a magical light show.

Wine tour

Avellino and the surrounding area has a long tradition of wine-making and is sometimes called the land of ‘noble wines’. The regions’s indigenous varieties: Aglianico, Falanghina, Fiano, Piedirosso, Greco di Tufo and Coda di Volpe are used in the production of quality white and red D.O.C. wines. Lacryma Christi (Tears of Christ) is a famous wine produced from the grapes grown on the fertile, volcanic soil on the slopes of Vesuvius and comes in red, white and rosé versions. This tour will provide an introduction to the wines of the region together with tastings.

Sofia Loren’s home town, Pozzuoli, includes the Flavian Amphitheater, third largest Roman amphitheater in Italy; The Temple of Serapide; Cave of the Cumean Sybil; Lago di Averno (gateway to the underworld); Trip on a glass-bottomed boat to see the old part of Baia town several metres below sea level. Away from bustling Naples, Pozzuoli is less commercialised and offers a relaxed ‘old world’ atmosphere with traditional food.

Cruise along the coastline of Massa Lubrense and sail around Punta Campanella at the extreme tip of the Sorrento Peninsula. After taking in the scenery and keeping cool by swimming in the crystal clear waters you step ashore at Marina del Cantone for lunch overlooking the beach. There’s no rush, take your time to savour the food, the wine and the surroundings before sailing off to Positano, Amalfi or Capri. You decide.


Paestum and Salerno excursions

Paestum & Mozzarella

Paestum is famous for its archaeological area especially the three Doric temples – said to be the best-preserved Greek temples in the world. The museum displays many fascinating artifacts, such as sculptures and tomb paintings discovered during excavations. Paestum is also known for its buffalo mozzarella cheese, produced entirely by hand from buffalo milk. A guided tour will show you the production and an opportunity to taste this exquisite product.
